Folksy Folks at Folkfest

Most of our weekend was spent packing up our lives into neat little cardboard boxes, but we took a break on Sunday afternoon to enjoy our last folk festival as locals.
Last summer I wrote about going to folk fest as a fat pregnant lady eating all the fair food.  This year, I found myself a fat non pregnant lady eating all the fair food.  It's a really, really, really good thing there isn't always a fried dough booth in my driveway.  Like, for realsies.

We popped out on Friday night for some Cambodian food and fried dough.  I ate a steak and cheese sub and ice cream on Saturday afternoon.  And on Sunday, I ate some Greek food and some more ice cream.  Oh yea, and we went to the diner on Sunday morning too. Diet...ruined.  For realsies.

We interrupted stuffing our faces with lounging in the shade in front of the main stage on Sunday.  We spent about three hours there watching act after act of folk music.  My favorite group featured "banjers" and fiddles.  They were like the original Mumford and Sons.

Miss Madeline was great.  She danced along to the music.  She clapped when appropriate.  She played with her toys when she got bored, and she ate the snacks we brought along for her.  We bought her her first balloon.  She was interested in it for about five seconds before she returned to picking grass.

They moved the beer garden so that you could drink and see the stage at the same time this year.  We seriously debated bringing Madeline in for a beer or two.  (For us, not for her.) But, in the end, we decided to be responsible parents and stuck to drinking lemonade. (La snore...)

We're very excited to be moving, but next year we will miss living in the midst of folk fest.  It was so easy taking Madeline out knowing that we could run back to the apartment to change her diaper or get her a fresh bottle.  After a few hours, Madeline started to get the wild look of a Russian dancing bear in her eyes, so we knew it was time to head home...which only took us about two minutes.
We'll miss you folk fest!
